The Athletic Foundations Program is a 16-week journey taking the young athlete from a general knowledge of strength & conditioning to an advanced one.
Often parents are unsure of what to do and left with unanswered questions. Except, everywhere you turn, someone has the newest, greatest promise.
I’m not promising you a single thing. What the young athlete achieves comes from dedication and hard work. If the heart is there, they will achieve what they set out to do.
Over the last 20 years I’ve learned both dedication and hard work are coachable. But heart is something they do or do not have.
Now, during the program, not every day will offer a new personal best. But every day will drive them closer to their personal best.
Each workout is structured in a way to build upon the previous. This training protocol goes against what everyone else is doing. That’s because the workouts (and exercises) focus on the following 10 general skills: Metabolic Conditioning, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Balance, Agility, and Coordination.
Addressing each of these 10 skills in as many ways as possible will help the athlete will reach their full potential.
Unfortunately, injuries are commonplace in the young athlete. The misconception is they should stop strength training during the season. Nothing is further from the truth. Even the multisport athlete should continue strength training during their seasons.
However, in-season looks much different than off-season strength training. During the off-season, which is the focus of this Foundations Program, the athlete focuses on moving weight under intensity for improved explosive muscular endurance.
More simply, moving lighter weight faster rather than heavier weights slower.
If you’re ready to help your young athlete compete, physically, at their top level, then it’s time to invest in their athletic future.
